DES PIEDS ET DES VINS
A collective of biodynamic Champagne growers. We drew them a poster – one working hand, with every grower's name around it.
Des Pieds et des Vins is a group of organic and biodynamic Champagne growers who meet for annual tastings in Paris and Reims. We made them a poster, drawn entirely by hand.
It's built around one image: a large working hand, for the physical labour behind the wine. The names of the growers are lettered around it in an art nouveau style, filling the whole surface until the space left between them forms the silhouette of the hand. Illustration and lettering run together as one continuous field.
The colour is kept tight – a deep burnt-umber line on warm ochre, with the white of the paper doing the highlights. It reads like something printed by hand.
The name works two ways: the people who work the land, feet in the soil and hands in the harvest, and the vines themselves, roots down in the ground.
