CHAMPAGNE PETIT CLERGOT
A RESTLESS YOUNG WINEMAKER PUSHING AGAINST THE EDGES OF CHAMPAGNE – SOMETIMES QUIETLY, SOMETIMES NOT
Champagne Petit Clergeot is led by Paul Bastien, who returned to the family farm in 2017 with no winery, no press – and a head full of ideas. What followed was a rapid build: first facilities, first vintages, and an ongoing stream of experiments, all grounded in an organic approach.
Restless by nature, his work tends to move slightly ahead of the framework around it.
The collaboration centred on a cuvée that doesn’t quite fit the category it belongs to. Officially, a rosé. In practice, something else.
The label leans into that tension. Rosé appears in bold black, large and unmistakable. Behind it, ORANGE repeats in a camouflage pattern – loud, fluorescent, and impossible to fully ignore. Neon yellow and pink push the expression further, drawing subtle inspiration from the visual language of Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols.
A small act of negotiation, perhaps. Or simply a different way of telling the truth.
