ÄLTE CHAMPAGNE
A YOUNG HOUSE IN THE MARNE VALLEY, WORKING SLIGHTLY AGAINST THE CURRENT – QUESTIONING HOW CHAMPAGNE IS MADE, AND WHY
Älte Champagne is founded by Alice and Alexandre Mantel in the western Marne Valley. Their work begins with terroir – not the obvious, but the overlooked. Sandy, clay-heavy, limestone-rich soils, shifting with depth and exposure.
Their approach is deliberately off-centre. Rooted in ancestral knowledge, but not bound by it. Concepts like growth and progress are treated with a certain scepticism – making space for slower processes, autonomy, and a different kind of precision.
The website was designed and built as a translation of an existing brand identity made by Agence Cidéo in Äy. Not a reinvention, but a structuring. Establishing rhythm, hierarchy, and a clear way of navigating an otherwise layered and expressive universe.
A restrained framework holds the site together, allowing more idiosyncratic elements to surface without losing coherence.
