AKADEMIRAADET
The Royal Academy of Fine Arts advises the Danish state on artistic matters. It needed a digital home with the same standing, built for how people read now.
The Academy works through its Academy Council to promote the arts, particularly architecture and the visual arts. We were asked to give that work a clear, open place online without losing the weight of the institution behind it.

The brief covered both the UX and the visual direction. We worked on the structure and the look at the same time, so the content stays easy to follow and the history stays in the background rather than on top of everything.
Heritage as Foundation
The colour palette comes from the muted tones of the Danish Golden Age. We paired a responsive logotype with a typographic system that keeps its hierarchy from a wide screen down to a phone.

The result is quiet and well lit. It frames the Academy's work without crowding it, and keeps a long history in everyday use.
