ÄLTE CHAMPAGNE
A young champagne house in the western Marne Valley asking why Champagne is made the way it is.
Älte Champagne was founded by Alexandre and Alice Mantel in the western Marne Valley. Their starting point is terroir, but the overlooked kind rather than the obvious: sandy, clay-heavy, limestone-rich soils that shift with depth and exposure.

The approach is deliberately off-centre – built on old knowledge, but not tied to it. They're sceptical of the usual talk of growth and progress, and make room instead for slower work, independence, and a quieter kind of precision.

The brand identity already existed, made by Agence Cidéo in Äy. Our job was the website – not a reinvention, but a structure for it. We gave it rhythm, hierarchy, and a clear way through what is otherwise a layered, expressive world: a restrained frame that lets the more idiosyncratic parts come forward without the whole thing coming apart.

The frame stays quiet so the house doesn't have to.
